Arena match RECORD & REPLAY
I would love to be able to watch a bird's-eye replay of Arena matches once they are over, in order to see what I did wrong (when we get trounced) and what I did right (when we won). This would really help me develop my gameplay strategies. It would need to be big enough to be able to track specific players, rather than just blue dots a la the corner map.
Anyone else think this would be a nice addition?

Unfortunately, I do not believe that the engine running the Guild Wars engine is currently set up to properly record in a manner akin to UT2k3/4 or WC3. Instead, might I suggest using FRAPS : http://www.fraps.com/ it will take probably less system resources than an ingame attempt (since most developers don't contain video software programmers) with better results, many people use this for recording raids, duels, so on, especially became apparent in the WoW community.
Personally, I enjoy getting videos of these, alot of people don't pay attention to em, but I've watched alot of pro-wc3, sc, ut, and cs matches, it is unfortunately not thought of enough because alot of what is done is subtlety, as no one person is actually stronger than the other, they don't have more health, more speed, deal more damage, a person may be great at a game but it is essentially the same thing.

Thanks, I'll give Fraps a try. Unfortunately, it will only record the match from my perspective, and I'd love something that was more third-person/birds-eye. Obviously, though, this is what's available now.

BUMP!
Sorry to dig this one up from the grave, but I think saving replays would be a great feature to add to this game. If I have to wait for an expansion and pay for it, so be it...I'll be first in line to shell out the money. It would be a great tool to work on your GVG strategy, and an excellent way to single out good or bad players (or tactics). It's one thing to try to explain a person the right way to play their role or character, but if you can actually see what they're doing right or wrong would be an enormously helpful tool.

I have fraps but my comp is old and can't take it. I usually hijack my brothers comp to record but the damn thing died the other day. Odd to see this to pop up at the same time! Anyway I doubt it would be possible with the GW engine but if it was I'd love it.
ESPECIALLY if it could alllow us to watch our HoH matches while stuck the the damn vault! Always seem to spend 15 mintues in there .

Ok, considering the possibility that the GW engine can't handle saving full-replays, I would still appreciate a replay of moving dots on a radar and what skills the characters were using.
Spectating in the HOH is an excellent idea! That would be awesome, and I guess the next best thing to replays.

They are adding observer mode in the upcomign giant update. From what i read it allows you to watch the HoH and so on.

I'm looking forward to the observer mode, but I think he was asking for more of the abillity to observe, record, and replay. Maybe in an expansion they can stick this in since the engine itself as of now isn't built for it... 3rd party programs are optional but i'm very lazy .

I don't see why they aren't already supporting this via Guild Ladders - almost in a league format. Guild Rank #5 challenges Guild Rank #1 - Tuesday 7pm Central etc.
Then have a GvG Moderator for each team in the server under Obs mode, jumping from player to player or whatever and capturing it on video.
This was done for the original Tribes ladder matches and it FREAKIN rocked!! You could live-stream watch a match with audio commentary....it was the most enjoyable experience I've had with any MMOG.
